The Mysteries of the Alhambra

Children & Young Adult, Children's Books, Children's Books Age 10+, Activity Books

Anna, Fred and Grandpa Drechsler are hot on the trail of the mysterious Count Otto von Finkenstein once again: this time, a Spanish newspaper article from 1968 falls into Grandpa Drechsler’s hands. It’s about a murder that took place in the Alhambra, and there’s a strange photo that clearly contains a secret message. With the picture as the first clue, a wild mystery chase takes the three puzzle pros all the way through Granada and into the very heart of the proud fortress of the Alhambra. It’s just as well they get some help from Inigo, a Spanish boy who is almost as clever as Fred, and who Anna takes a fancy to…

Press acclaim for The Mysteries of Finkenstein Castle:

“A truly unique crime novel for children, riddled with puzzle pictures, cryptographs, palindromes, anagrams and sudokos. The ideal book for family reading – the mysteries are a great challenge for adults, too.” (Kölnische Rundschau)

“The author has succeeded in producing a really outstanding book amongst the glut of ‘solve-it-yourself’ detective stories for children – the top-quality puzzles and clever story framework make it highly recommendable.” (Working Group for Young Readers’ Literature and Media of the German Education Union, Rhineland-Palatinate division - Arbeitsgemeinschaft Jugendliteratur und Medien der GEW, Rheinland-Pfalz)
